Ian Gomez (born December 27, 1964)[1] played the recurring part of Larry Almada, a co-worker of Drew's at Winfred-Louder on The Drew Carey Show . Ian is perhaps best known for his comedic TV work, the most notable of which are his series-regular stints as Javier on Felicity and Andy on Cougar Town.

Early life[]

He was born in New York City, New York, to an artist father and a dancer mother.[1]

Career[]

In addition to his role on TDCS, Ian has also worked with Drew Carey on the show Whose Line is it Anyway?. In 2002 he starred in Alanis Morissette's "Hands Clean" music video. On the HBO series Your Enthusiasm he played the "bald chef," who Larry David hired to cook in the restaurant he owned with Jeff Greene, Ted Danson, Michael York, and Hugh Mellon. From 1998-2002, he played Javier Clemente Quintata on the hit The WB Television Network series Felicity. In April 2006 Gomez appeared on Reba as a therapist in an episode called "Here We Go Again". He was recently in ABC's Jake in Progress, starring John Stamos, and appeared in the fourth episode of Lost's third season, "Every Man for Himself". He plays Andy Torres in the ABC-TV and TBS network comedy Cougar Town alongside fellow Drew Carey Show castmate Christa Miller.

Personal life[]

He is married to actress-writer Nia Vardalos of My Big Fat Greek Wedding fame. He appeared in her films My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Connie and Carla, My Life in Ruins, I Hate Valentine's Day, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Gomez is of Puerto Rican and Russian Jewish descent, and converted to the Greek Orthodox Church upon marrying Vardalos, which is mirrored as a plot element in Wedding. In 2008, the two adopted a little girl.[2][3][4]
